hextorgb
help for hextorgb
hextorgb – A utility to convert Hexadecimal encoded RGB values to decimal encoded RGB values.
Syntax
hextorgb , hexcolor(varname | string) |
Description
This is a utility program that converts hexadecimal RGB encoded colors into decimal values. It takes a sole argument which can be either a string value or a variable. If a variable is passed to the program, it returns the RGB values in a new variable called rgb. If string values are passed to the program it will print a table showing the individual component values, a comma separated RGB value, and a Stata formatted RGB string.
Options
hexcolor is the only required argument and can accept either a variable with the hexadecimal encoded string or a series of raw string values. If string values are passed to the option, the red, green, and blue component values are returned in local macros, as are a comma delimited and a Stata formatted RGB string. If a hexadecimal value is passed to the argument, it will return a Stata formatted RGB string in the variable rgb.
Examples
The examples below use the hexadecimal values for palettes defined in the D3js Categorical Color palettes.
Ex 1.
This returns the RGB values for the colors listed under d3.scale.category10().
